In the early stages of wedding planning the bride and groom can become over-whelmed with what to put on their list of “things to do”. There always seems to be a flood of information and ideas and it’s can be stressful to figure out what is important. Here are a few ideas of important steps to take in the early stages of your wedding planning.
1) Decide how big and grand to go with your wedding. How many guests will you want to attend and how many guests can you afford to have at your wedding reception. Quite often in the early stages of planning the bride and groom will make a list of everyone they know as potential guests at the wedding. But the closer they get to making final decisions on food and size of the banquet facility they may have to decide that they can’t afford to have a large wedding. Hard decisions on the guest list should be done early so that a realistic budget can be created.
2) Do you want to use the services of a wedding consultant or ask a family member to help? If the budget will allow for a wedding consultant then the bride and groom will want to begin interviewing potential candidates in the early stages of planning. If the wedding budget is limited then begin asking important family members if they would be willing to take on the role of a wedding consultant and help pull everything together.
3) Begin researching wedding vendors. Use the internet to help you with your wedding research for all the wedding vendors you may want to use. Also ask family and friends for referrals as they may have experience with certain vendors in your local area. These vendors would include reception bands or DJs, photographers, videographers, caterers, wedding cake bakers, etc. Schedule appointments with the vendors who are at the top of your list and take a look at their portfolios, recordings and lists of referrals.
4) Decide on a theme and colors for your wedding. A wedding theme can be an important decision to make early so that you can make early decisions on budget for decorations and wedding ceremony and reception locations that will fit with your theme. Brides usually have a good idea on what their favorite colors are and of course, this day is all about the bride. So decide your color scheme and maybe let the groom have a little input. The color scheme will come into play when deciding on flowers, table decor, balloons, and wedding accessories.
