Hot Wedding Trends in Styles & Colors for 2014

July 10, 2014 by admin

Hot new wedding trends for styles, themes and colors for the modern bride and groom include simple and homey or flashy and elegant.  This year’s weddings seem to be going more toward down-home and country with the popular wedding theme Rustic Country or Chic & Shabby.

The Rustic Country theme wedding is usually held in an outdoor setting with lots of western or ranch theme decor. Having the wedding or reception in a country barn is the hot trend this year. Many people with ranches or farms are renting out their barns for weddings and special events as a way to bring in additional income. Brides and grooms are going for this popular theme in a big way.

Early Wedding Planning For The Bride & Groom

July 2, 2014 by admin

In the early stages of wedding planning the bride and groom can become over-whelmed with what to put on their list of “things to do”. There always seems to be a flood of information and ideas and it’s can be stressful to figure out what is important. Here are a few ideas of important steps to take in the early stages of your wedding planning.

1)  Decide how big and grand to go with your wedding.  How many guests will you want to attend and how many guests can you afford to have at your wedding reception.  Quite often in the early stages of planning the bride and groom will make a list of everyone they know as potential guests at the wedding. But the closer they get to making final decisions on food and size of the banquet facility they may have to decide that they can’t afford to have a large wedding. Hard decisions on the guest list should be done early so that a realistic budget can be created.

2)  Do you want to use the services of a wedding consultant or ask a family member to help?  If the budget will allow for a wedding consultant then the bride and groom will want to begin interviewing potential candidates in the early stages of planning. If the wedding budget is limited then begin asking important family members if they would be willing to take on the role of a wedding consultant and help pull everything together.

3)  Begin researching wedding vendors. Use the internet to help you with your wedding research for all the wedding vendors you may want to use. Also ask family and friends for referrals as they may have experience with certain vendors in your local area. These vendors would include reception bands or DJs, photographers, videographers, caterers, wedding cake bakers, etc. Schedule appointments with the vendors who are at the top of your list and take a look at their portfolios, recordings and lists of referrals.

4)  Decide on a theme and colors for your wedding.  A wedding theme can be an important decision to make early so that you can make early decisions on budget for decorations and wedding ceremony and reception locations that will fit with your theme.  Brides usually have a good idea on what their favorite colors are and of course, this day is all about the bride. So decide  your color scheme and maybe let the groom have a little input. The color scheme will come into play when deciding on flowers, table decor, balloons, and wedding accessories.

The First Thing to Do When Planning Your Wedding

June 20, 2014 by admin

The groom has finally popped the question, “Will You Marry Me?”.  Now what does the bride do next? Here are a few things to put on your list of things to do a few months before the wedding.

1)  Announce your engagement and let your friends and family know you have set a date for you wedding.  You can have an engagement party and announce your plans or you can send out “Save The Date” cards.  Sending out the cards to announce the date for your wedding lets family and friends who don’t live close by be aware that they may need to set aside vacation time so that they can attend your wedding.

2)  Buy a Wedding Planner book.  Brides have been using wedding planning books for many years and they have found them to be invaluable in keeping track of all the things they need to do prior to the wedding.  This book will help you keep a list of vendors, important meeting dates, dress fitting dates, a wish list for accessories and many other important “To Do” items. If a bride keeps on top of her “To Do List” then she will be less stressed when it comes time to walk down the aisle to her groom. You can keep your list on your computer however, a book may be easier to carry with you as you are shopping and going on appointments.

3)  Select a Theme or Style & Colors for your Wedding.  The bride usually has some favorite colors in mind for her wedding day. Afterall, she’s been dreaming of this day since she was a little girl. So now is the time to make a decision about those colors.  A theme for the wedding is nice because it may determine where you want to have your wedding or reception. Will it be an outdoor event or indoor? Will you have your wedding close to home or will it be a destination wedding at a beach resort or a mountain lake? Making your decisions on themes and colors early in the wedding planning can save you time and money and less stress.

4)  Plan Your Budget.  How much can the bride and groom afford to spend on their wedding ceremony and reception?  This wedding budget will depend on their personal savings, income and family contributions. It will be very beneficial to the wedding planning to have a family meeting with all those who may want to be involved in contributing to the wedding budget. Set a date as soon as possible for a budget meeting so that there won’t be any last minute surprises regarding the budget.  The costs of a wedding can creep up and up the closer a couple gets to their wedding date so they will want to be prepared.

Hot New Wedding Veils for 2014

May 15, 2014 by admin

The wedding veils styles for 2014 cover a wide range of designs, lengths, colors and edgings. For a more traditional bridal design, wedding veil suppliers offer the standard and simple tulle veils with cut edge, pencil edge or corded edge in the standard colors of white, diamond white (off-white) or ivory.  Diamond white is a great color for light ivory wedding gowns as it is not bright white and it’s not a yellowish ivory …. it’s in between the two colors.  You can get these veils in one or two tiers in lengths from shoulder, elbow, fingertip, knee, floor, chapel and cathedral. Three tier veils are usually reserved for cathedral veils only – with the top two tiers being elbow & fingertip and the third tier cathedral.  When you have two tiers on a bridal veil the top shorter layer is used as a blusher.

In the past few seasons, mantilla style wedding veils have become popular with all brides.  You don’t have to have a Spanish style wedding to wear a mantilla style veil.  The mantilla style veil usually features a lot beautiful lace along the edge of the veil and the veil usually only has one tier. These veils can also feature embroidered flowers and beading for added elegance. Alencon lace is a type of lace commonly found on mantilla style veils. This lace is a needle lace which originated in Alencon, France during the 16th century.  Although, the Alencon lace found on most veils these days is machined lace from Asia, it’s still a beautiful accent to any bridal veil.

Edgings on bridal veils come in many forms this season. A popular style has always been a scalloped edge. This style of edging on a veil gives a very soft, romantic look to the veil as the edge has soft curves. Another style this season is similar to the scalloped edge and it’s called a butterfly edge. This type of edging also has a soft curves rather than a straight edge.

Flower designs have always been popular on wedding veils and the 2014 hand-made wedding veils from Ansonia Bridal are featuring some lovely embroidered flower designs. Ansonia has also incorporated sequins and seed beads into their flower designed veils.  These veils come in white, diamond white and ivory and popular lengths of elbow, fingertip or cathedral.  The cathedral length veils are the most dramatic and have spectacular trains that cascade behind the bride as she walks down the aisle.

Pearls and weddings just go together since the beginning of time. Many of the wedding veils styles in 2014 still features scattered pearls or pearls along the edge. These veils will go best when the bride wears that pearl necklace she received from Mom or accents pearls that are sewn on her gown.  If the bride is wearing a very plain wedding gown she can add a bridal sash that has pearl accents to go along with the scattered pearl veil.
